The most important things in dog training are consistency, keeping dog's attention and understanding your dog, Canine obedience training cosist offers home trainers a larger task at home: the basic dog command instructs attetion to detail and youre comfort zone as a dog trainer - the master at commanding and teaching the bare essentials should posses leadership skills as well as good quality. in this article readers and subcribers will learn the 12 most successuful and Essential Commands Every Dog Should Know and train well. more details below

To get the respect of your dog you must be consistent. You should make a set of do's and don'ts for your dog. Follow these guidelines to the letter, if a dog does something desirable always reward it, if a dog does something bad punish him or her appropriately. In dogs world consistency is a sign of a leader. You will make your training my easier and effective by being a leader who the dog respects and follows.

Ninety percent of your dogs training will be getting his or hers attention and keeping him focused on yourself. If your dog cannot focus on you, it will not listen to you, and thus making the commands you give fall on empty ears. I will describe a technique on how to get and keep your dog's attention with few very simple exercises. First, most dogs will respond to their name, so call them and when they look at you tell them "watch". After doing it few times the dog will associate the command with looking at you. After you have perfected the "watch" command, start doing exercises aimed at expanding your dog's attention span. A good technique is to hold a treat with your teeth and while standing in front of your dog give it a watch command. Stand in position for a few seconds keeping dogs attention, then praise. Repeat the exercise until your dog focus on you for about a minute. The more attention your dog can give you the better student it will be.

A vital part of dog training is the understanding of how a dog thinks. Dogs, like small children, have a very short attention span. Most dogs can be focused on training for about ten to twenty minutes, after that time they will start loosing focus and will require a small break. A good idea is to make regular training sessions of 20-30 minutes per day. Another important thing is to make the training fun for the dog. Make the dog look forward to the training time instead of dreading it. To achieve this you should always make their effort worthwhile. After every successful command make sure to give them a treat or praise them with very excited voice. The more willing the dog is to train the more effective the training will be!

Incorporate these techniques into your training sessions and in no-time you will be ready to proceed to much more complex obedience training exercises. You and your dog will both enjoy the time spent together, your dog will respect you for being a responsible owner and other people will appreciate your dog's great behavior after you are done!

Heres a list of the 12 Essential Commands Every Dog Should Know..

#1 Come This is the first and most important command in your dog training basics command repertoire. Usually taught together with your dog's name, it's a command that you will use frequently to recall your dog back to you especially if he/she breaks free from the leash or is running around disturbing other people in the neighborhood.

#2 Sit - One of the easiest and most useful commands to teach, "Sit" can be use to control your dog from getting too excited while you are preparing its meal. Dogs who understand the "Sit" command are also easier to manage and less likely to misbehave (examples: jumping on people, chasing animals or fighting with other dogs.)

#3 Stay - Often used in combination with other commands such as "Sit" or "Down," the command "Stay" is useful to keep your dog out of harms way should he/she approach something it's not suppose to or dangerous. However, this is not the easiest command for dogs to obey as their curiosity and animal instinct can sometimes take over instead of staying put as told.

#4 - Wait Different from the "Stay" command which is more often use to keep your dog away from harms way, the "Wait" command is more commonly use on dogs that have a habit of rushing through doors or pull ahead on a leash to keep your dog in check, letting him/her know he/she is to wait till your next command.

#5 - Down Unlike the "sit" command, the "down" command means your dog goes down on his/her belly. This command is an essential part of doggy etiquette. It's also more comfortable than a sitting position when you want your dog wait for you for more than a minute or two.

#6 - Stand This command tells your dog to stop moving and be still. It's useful for when you are having a veterinarian examining him over or when you are bathing and grooming him.

#7 - Okay The "Okay" command is usually used to release your dog from a previous command you have given earlier. For example, by giving the "Okay", you gave your dog the signal to walk through the open door if you had early given the "Wait" command.

#8 No - Depending on the situation, the "No" is commonly and frequently used to discourage or break up undesirable behavior such as chewing, biting or jumping. This is an important command that you should teach your dog from the beginning the moment you bring him/her home.

#9 - Off The "Off" command is useful to teach your dog to get off the sofa or your bed and is also applicable to stop any jumping on you or other people.

#10 - Leave It Dogs are inquisitive animals and sometimes give in to their instinct to explore things that appeal to their senses. In situations where your dog fancies poop eating or have a chewing habit, the "Leave It" command can be use to prevent any of these from happening.

#11 - Drop It The "Drop It" command is necessary to get your dog drop whatever it is in their mouth like your expensive leather shoe or unknown substances that might be potentially harmful. This command is also useful when you start teaching your dog how to "Fetch".

#12 - Heel "Heel" simply means that your dog will walk on your left without lagging behind or running ahead of you. This is extremely useful to you to teach your dog this command to prevent him/her pulling you on the leash while going for walks and becomes all the more necessary if you have a large dog.
